If you have followed me for very long, this statement may surprise you, but I completely believe it.

Your Big Goals May Be Doing You In.

I am all about expanding your business and setting goals that double, triple, or even 10x your business. That is how the top performers in any industry make things happen.  But they also know one secret that others fail to know or utilize, and that one thing may be why you are not hitting your goals.

Want to know what it is?

Goals without measured, proven, tactical action will almost never come to fruition—without that, your goal is merely words and wishes.

True top performers—regardless of the industry—know that along with a gigantic vision and goals, you must include a thoughtful set of proven, short-term, tactical actions that break that giant goal into attainable progress and success.

Otherwise, we are just fooling ourselves and frustrating those around us.

So how do you know that you are falling prey to “giant dream syndrome” instead of being a solid, consistent performer?

The answer is simple.

Did you hit your performance and sales goals this year?  Why not? I am going to step out on a limb here and say that if your answer to that question begins with “because” instead “I did not,” it is highly possible you are dreamer and not a finisher.

Now that may sound harsh, and if so I apologize.  However, I would not be a true friend if I did not shoot straight with you.

To get to the level of performance you dream about, you cannot make excuses. You have to take daily, regular, disciplined action steps based on proven tactics.

To put it into a baseball analogy, I am saying to quit swinging for the home run all the time and focus on hitting singles and doubles.  When you do, the homers will come, because you have done the work.

Now just to be clear—I am not saying that we so only set small goals.  Please do not misunderstand me.

I am simply saying to you that to achieve gigantic, explosive goals, you must also pair them with massive, measured, proven action that is acted upon in short, detailed seasons of success.

Without that type of effort, your dreams—come this time next year—will once again be mocking you.
