New Grind or New Way: How to Grow Your Insurance Business

A new year is a new beginning. It’s your chance to stop and think about how to grow your insurance business. What worked for you last year? What didn’t work? I’m always looking for a better way to live life, do business, and lead my family. I don’t want producers to face the same agony and struggles I did in business and in life. I spent far too many years without an insurance sales strategic plan. I would show up day in and day out, put in long hours, and think that was the way to provide for my family. I almost lost them in the process and I was nowhere near my income potential.

I chose a new way of doing business. It was a better way. I can tell you from experience, not all property casualty businesses are alike. You don’t have to work 60, 80, or 100 hours like I did to achieve the dreams and goals you have for your business and family.

The key is to learn a new way of being productive and to perform at a higher level than your competitors. They grind and grind, thinking that long hours means more money. That’s why so many producers never reach $500,000 or more a year in sales. The secret is to understand your entrepreneurial clients, their businesses and industries, and to connect to them in meaningful ways. This equates to more money. Become their most valued business ally, and you won’t have to grind as much.

Most people don’t take the time to think about their own thinking. Don’t make that mistake; think about how you’re approaching your business. Is it producing the results you want?
