A New Year for Setting Bigger Goals

Happy New Year to you and yours!

It is my sincere hope that you are putting the finishing touches on the best year of your career, and that you blew away every sales and productivity goal you had on your list.

One of the ways that has happened for me is through a tool that I coach to every member of my group—whether a $1M+ sales professional or a complete newbie to the industry.

But you want to know a very funny thing?  Every single time I have introduced it—regardless of success or size of their book of business, they sort of look at me and say, “Jerry, really?  This seems a little simple,” or “This seems like a ‘make believe’ thing.”

But without exception, within about three to four months, they come back and say, “WOW!  I had no idea that this simple little thing could make such a huge difference.”

In fact, I recently did interviews with my most elite level coaching clients and every single one of them said that it has had an enormous impact on their business.

So you want to know what it is?  I mean, if I tell you, will you take it to heart and try it?

I call this tool my One Year Dream.

Now, before you roll your eyes and think what everyone else has before you, let me challenge you to consider this.  I have personally used this resource in my own business and in my personal life for several years now.

Every year, especially 2015, it has been particularly effective in helping me achieve my goals.

So, ready?  Here goes:

First – take out a blank sheet of paper and draw a line vertically down the center of the page.

Second – left of the line, list anything and everything professionaly you would like to see happen in 2016.  Be realistic, AND dream quite a bit too.  (Also, list that big hairy dream you have been chewing on for a while now.)

Third – right of the line, make the same list, but for your personal life – family, lifestyle, health, whatever.

Finally – turn the paper over and start with, “Today is December 31, 2016.”  Imagine that it is one year from today and you are looking back to reflect on all you have achieved.  As you do, use the bullets from your two columns on the other side, and write your story in past tense, as though it has all happened.  Describe in detail what happened, the goals you met, and in particular how achieving this has made you feel.

Literally write it out as though it is your own personal ESPN highlight reel.

Now, before you try to take the easy way out and just “think” about it.  STOP.  There is something unique and powerful about taking the time and writing it down.  It will not be a waste of time—in fact, I believe it is a game changer.

Once you do, scan it or snap a pic of it with your phone and email it to me at JerryLujan@Elevation180.com   I want to see what is in your future and celebrate with you in advance!

And if you really want to change your life with this exercise, I invite you to set up time for quick start call with me.
